Forecast Discussion

Overnight rain has ended. A changeover to early morning flurries was confined to areas closer to the VA/NC line. It’s all over now, and sunshine will dominate today although it will be quite chilly. Generally clear weather continues tonight and Friday with seasonably chilly temperatures.

Next up will be developing low-pressure coming out of the OK/TX Panhandle Saturday morning, then tracking into the Ohio Valley on Sunday. Secondary low development will then occur along the Outer Banks by Monday morning before heading to the northeast.

Precipitation will spread into the western Carolinas Saturday night ahead of this next system and will likely take the form of a sloppy wintry mix changing to rain on Sunday.

We should be in the relative clear on Monday, but a rather potent upper level low swinging through will mean that intervals of cloudiness will persist. Sunshine becomes more dominant on Tuesday, then a moderating temperature trend by the middle of next week.
