Tranquil Night

After a quiet albeit chilly night, cloud coverage will start to increase for our area late tonight into Thursday. Later in the day, and continuing into the evening hours, light rain makes a return to WNC.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday stays dry, but more rain is in store for Saturday afternoon through early Sunday. Afterwards, an Arctic airmass arrives Sunday night causing temperatures to plummet.

The 2019 Blue Ridge Parkway Calendar is a great "from the mountains" gift anytime of year. Get yours at RaysMarketplace.Com, or from one of the many local retailers. This year's feature is Waterfalls along the Parkway. Enjoy!

Forecast Discussion

High pressure still reigns over the Southeast keeping the clear skies. Temperatures will be near to above normal into the weekend. A cold front will usher in clouds and light rain for Thursday evening and later that night. Rain amounts will generally be very lights. Friday, the sun returns for a bit as a Canadian high pressure makes its way South.

Now, for the main feature presentation: From the West, a low pressure system will track eastward into Western Tennessee on Saturday morning, reaching the our neck-of-the-woods by Sunday. Rain will overtake WNC on Saturday afternoon, with the main brunt of the rain expected Saturday night. Rain will end Sunday morning. Afterwards, the Arctic cold blast that we've been talking about for the past couple of days arrives. Expect the coldest temperatures we've seen this winter season Sunday night through Monday night. Yes, it will be that cold.
