Long Dry Stretch Coming

Cindy's remnant low is exiting the U. S. through the Mid-Atlantic early today. It's not an issue for us; however, a cold front moving slowly across Western NC today is. We'll have lots of dry hours but also widely scattered showers and thundershowers through the daytime. Drier air arrives tonight leading to a pleasant stretch of weather beginning Sunday.

We are finishing work on the 2018 Blue Ridge Parkway Calendar and hope to have it to the printer by early July with calendars available mid/late July. However like the last couple years, many photos, 50-60, from the Parkway will appear in the calendar. Click here for the winning photos

Forecast Discussion

Cindy has been a part of our forecast for at least a week now. We're glad to turn that page as it exits the U. S. via the Mid-Atlantic today.

A front is moving slowly across Western NC today. With it in the vicinity, we must keep widely scattered showers and thundershowers in the forecast through the daytime today.

We'll enjoy a dry, pleasant Sunday and Monday with high pressure in control. Temperatures will be cooler than average Sunday through Wednesday. A dry secondary front moves through from the northwest Monday. At this point, it appears the only noticeable effect of this second front will be reinforcing cooler temperatures Tuesday.

In the second half of next week, the typical summer pattern is rebuilt. A Bermuda High strengthens blocking fronts from the west. Temperatures and humidity increase. And widely scattered afternoon and evening showers and thundershowers return to the forecast. We delayed the introduction of PM thunder to Friday.
