Cloudy and Cool

The main weather story continues to be the cool wedge pushing against the eastern side of the Appalachians, bringing the Foothills cool temperatures, cloudy skies, and fog along the Blue Ridge. Clouds diminish somewhat tomorrow as the wedge breaks down. Temperatures inch up slowly through the end of the week into a pleasant sunny weekend and beginning of next week.

The 2024 Blue Ridge Calendars
The 2024 Blue Ridge Calendar is a work of art thanks to amazing photographers and a talented graphic designer. It captures the essence of the climate, terrain, scenery, and creatures great and small of the Southern Appalachians. It's available at RaysMarketplace.Com and dozens of retailers across Western North Carolina.

Forecast Discussion

We are in the thick of a typical wedge pattern. High pressure over Canada pushes cool air against the eastern Appalachians, and an upper level low over the Great Lakes supplies moisture.

As this wedge begins to break down, the sun comes out tomorrow, and temperatures slowly increase as we head into the weekend. A stray shower is possible tomorrow and Friday as this pattern shifts. Then, dry high pressure moves south to take control of the weather bringing us sunny skies and warm weather for the weekend and the beginning of the next work week.
